# Cabela's vs Van Meter

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Cabela's at 29K against Van Meter's 2. Cabela's also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). Van Meter's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Van Meter holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cabela's has 29K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Cabela's ships an update fortnightly, Van Meter every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
