# COXPAL vs Octopus

The clearest difference is rating: Octopus at 5.0 against COXPAL's 2.8. Octopus also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 16) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 7 months). COXPAL's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Octopus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Octopus has 22K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 77% and 78% positive.

COXPAL ships an update every 7 months, Octopus every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
