# Best OCR & Handwriting Reader vs WriteRight

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: WriteRight at none against Best OCR & Handwriting Reader's 3. WriteRight also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Best OCR & Handwriting Reader's advantage is ratings volume (168 vs 13) and review sentiment (87% vs 75%). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Best OCR & Handwriting Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. WriteRight asks for nothing beyond the download.

WriteRight holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Best OCR & Handwriting Reader has 168 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Best OCR & Handwriting Reader's written reviews are positive against 75% of WriteRight's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
