# bartleby vs Study Buddy

The clearest difference is monetization model: Study Buddy at free with in-app purchases against bartleby's subscription. Study Buddy also leads on review sentiment (59% vs 26%) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). bartleby's advantage is ratings volume (2.5K vs 339). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. bartleby sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and Study Buddy sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Study Buddy holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: bartleby has 2.5K ratings behind it against 339, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 26% of bartleby's written reviews are positive against 59% of Study Buddy's.

bartleby ships an update monthly, Study Buddy fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
