# Work Shift Calendar (Shifter) vs NextShift

The clearest difference is ads: NextShift at none against Work Shift Calendar (Shifter)'s shown. NextShift also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 92%). Work Shift Calendar (Shifter)'s advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 14). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Work Shift Calendar (Shifter) sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and NextShift sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Work Shift Calendar (Shifter) holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Work Shift Calendar (Shifter) has 2.6K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of Work Shift Calendar (Shifter)'s written reviews are positive against 100% of NextShift's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Work Shift Calendar (Shifter) ships an update every 6 weeks, NextShift every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
