# Bookcamp vs Tonspur

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Tonspur at 83% against Bookcamp's 12%. Tonspur also leads on rating (4.7 vs 2.1) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Bookcamp's advantage is ratings volume (34 vs 6) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 26.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bookcamp sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Tonspur sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tonspur holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookcamp has 34 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 12% of Bookcamp's written reviews are positive against 83% of Tonspur's.

Bookcamp ships an update monthly, Tonspur every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
