# Speedometer vs SpeedOmeter SP

The clearest difference is rating: SpeedOmeter SP at 5.0 against Speedometer's 4.3. SpeedOmeter SP also leads on device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). Speedometer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (3K vs 6). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and SpeedOmeter SP sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SpeedOmeter SP holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speedometer has 3K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speedometer ships an update every 5 weeks, SpeedOmeter SP every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
