# Barnfox vs Fireflies

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Fireflies at 5.5K against Barnfox's 18. Fireflies also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 weeks). Barnfox's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs freemium). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Barnfox holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fireflies has 5.5K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two.
