# Widgetsmith vs HolyScrolls

The clearest difference is ads: HolyScrolls at none against Widgetsmith's shown. HolyScrolls also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (100% vs 72%). Widgetsmith's advantage is ratings volume (773K vs 2) and chart position (#34 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Widgetsmith sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and HolyScrolls sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HolyScrolls holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Widgetsmith has 773K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 72% of Widgetsmith's written reviews are positive against 100% of HolyScrolls's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
