# MP Phamily vs The Mint

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MP Phamily at 100% against The Mint's 64%. MP Phamily also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 18.6). The Mint's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (2K vs 8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Mint holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Mint has 2K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of MP Phamily's written reviews are positive against 64% of The Mint's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MP Phamily ships an update every 11 months, The Mint every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
