# Maptrails vs Top

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Top at none against Maptrails's 1. Top also leads on iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.0). Maptrails's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 14 months) and device support (5 vs 3). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Maptrails sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Top asks for nothing beyond the download.

Maptrails ships an update every 9 days, Top every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
