# Maptrails vs Skanni

The clearest difference is ads: Maptrails at none against Skanni's shown. Maptrails also leads on device support (5 vs 2). Skanni's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days). On price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Maptrails sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Skanni sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Maptrails ships an update every 9 days, Skanni every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
