# eScanner vs PDF Scanner Documents

The clearest difference is review sentiment: eScanner at 63% against PDF Scanner Documents's 20%. eScanner also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription). PDF Scanner Documents's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (59 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. eScanner sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and PDF Scanner Documents sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Scanner Documents holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Scanner Documents has 59 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of eScanner's written reviews are positive against 20% of PDF Scanner Documents's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

eScanner ships an update every 6 days, PDF Scanner Documents every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
