# eScanner vs PDF Scanner

eScanner and PDF Scanner both sit at 4.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 63% of eScanner's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Scanner's. eScanner also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.5). PDF Scanner's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. eScanner sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for eScanner against 4.1 for PDF Scanner. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Scanner has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of eScanner's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Scanner's.

eScanner ships an update every 6 days, PDF Scanner every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
