# Carotenos vs Acai Express

The clearest difference is ads: Carotenos at none against Acai Express's shown. Carotenos also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (3 vs 1). Acai Express's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (8K vs 94). On price, rating and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Carotenos against 4.9 for Acai Express. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Acai Express has 8K ratings behind it against 94, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Carotenos ships an update every 8 months, Acai Express fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
