# ActiveOBD vs CrossReel

The clearest difference is update cadence: CrossReel at monthly against ActiveOBD's every 3 months. ActiveOBD's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ActiveOBD sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month and CrossReel sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ActiveOBD ships an update every 3 months, CrossReel monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
