# Aimchess vs Chessdock

The clearest difference is rating: Chessdock at 5.0 against Aimchess's 3.9. Chessdock also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). Aimchess's advantage is ratings volume (196 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Aimchess sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Chessdock sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $39.00 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chessdock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Aimchess has 196 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Aimchess ships an update monthly, Chessdock every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
