# Spook vs Ghost Detector

The clearest difference is ads: Spook at none against Ghost Detector's shown. Ghost Detector's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 2 weeks) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spook sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Ghost Detector sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ghost Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 73 and 288 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Spook's written reviews are positive against 56% of Ghost Detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Spook ships an update every 2 weeks, Ghost Detector daily. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
