# 5 Second Rule vs 5 Second Challenge

The clearest difference is ads: 5 Second Challenge at none against 5 Second Rule's shown. 5 Second Challenge also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 12 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 11.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 5 Second Rule sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and 5 Second Challenge sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

5 Second Rule ships an update every 12 months, 5 Second Challenge every 2 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
