The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MyPIL at none against Scene's 2. MyPIL also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (12.4 vs 17.6). Scene's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scene sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. MyPIL asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Scene against 5.0 for MyPIL. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scene has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
