# Directory Viewer vs Samurai Search

The clearest difference is update cadence: Samurai Search at every 5 days against Directory Viewer's monthly. Samurai Search also leads on ratings volume (25 vs 2) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Directory Viewer against 5.0 for Samurai Search. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Samurai Search has 25 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Directory Viewer ships an update monthly, Samurai Search every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
