# VideoToLive vs Widget Cast

The clearest difference is monetization model: Widget Cast at freemium against VideoToLive's subscription. Widget Cast also leads on ads (none vs shown). VideoToLive's advantage is review sentiment (62% vs 33%) and ratings volume (596 vs 6). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VideoToLive sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Widget Cast sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for VideoToLive against 4.3 for Widget Cast. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VideoToLive has 596 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 62% of VideoToLive's written reviews are positive against 33% of Widget Cast's.

VideoToLive ships an update monthly, Widget Cast every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
