# Pro Note vs Open Caption

The clearest difference is update cadence: Open Caption at fortnightly against Pro Note's monthly. Open Caption also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pro Note sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Open Caption sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pro Note ships an update monthly, Open Caption fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
