# Proofmode vs Nitro Photo

The clearest difference is rating: Nitro Photo at 4.8 against Proofmode's 3.8. Nitro Photo also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (63 vs 4). Proofmode's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 9) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nitro Photo sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Proofmode asks for nothing beyond the download.

Nitro Photo holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nitro Photo has 63 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Proofmode's written reviews are positive against 86% of Nitro Photo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Proofmode ships an update every 3 months, Nitro Photo every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
