# sommos vs Sanborns

The clearest difference is monetization model: sommos at free against Sanborns's free with in-app purchases. sommos also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). Sanborns's advantage is ratings volume (180 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

sommos holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sanborns has 180 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

sommos ships an update every 3 weeks, Sanborns monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
