# Sparrow vs btrd

The clearest difference is rating: btrd at 5.0 against Sparrow's 4.5. btrd also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11) and device support (3 vs 1). Sparrow's advantage is ratings volume (3.6K vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sparrow sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. btrd asks for nothing beyond the download.

btrd holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sparrow has 3.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sparrow ships an update every 2 weeks, btrd every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
