# Lockbook vs Prism Notes

The clearest difference is monetization model: Prism Notes at free against Lockbook's freemium. Prism Notes also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs weekly) and iOS requirement (18.6 vs 26.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lockbook sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month and Prism Notes sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Lockbook against 4.9 for Prism Notes. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 32 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Lockbook ships an update weekly, Prism Notes every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
