# Hexcraft vs motonovel

The clearest difference is rating: Hexcraft at 3.7 against motonovel's 1.2. Hexcraft also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (33% vs 6%). motonovel's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (140 vs 15). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hexcraft sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and motonovel sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hexcraft holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 1.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: motonovel has 140 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of Hexcraft's written reviews are positive against 6% of motonovel's.

Hexcraft ships an update every 7 months, motonovel fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
