# Phottix vs Alpha GPS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Phottix at none against Alpha GPS's 3. Phottix also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). Alpha GPS's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Alpha GPS sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Phottix asks for nothing beyond the download.

Phottix ships an update every 4 weeks, Alpha GPS every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
