# Neural Network vs The Data Channel

The clearest difference is monetization model: Neural Network at free with in-app purchases against The Data Channel's subscription. Neural Network also leads on ratings volume (141 vs 2). The Data Channel's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neural Network sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 6 months and The Data Channel sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Data Channel holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Neural Network has 141 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Neural Network ships an update every 3 weeks, The Data Channel every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
