# iPattern vs Icon Theme

iPattern and Icon Theme both sit at 4.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of iPattern's written reviews are positive against 24% of Icon Theme's. iPattern also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Icon Theme's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 14 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iPattern sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Icon Theme sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for iPattern against 4.1 for Icon Theme. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Icon Theme has 764 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of iPattern's written reviews are positive against 24% of Icon Theme's.

iPattern ships an update every 14 months, Icon Theme every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
