# Classlight vs VIPKid

Classlight and VIPKid both sit at 4.2 stars, but that hides the real split: 85% of VIPKid's written reviews are positive against 43% of Classlight's. VIPKid also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Classlight's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

VIPKid holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Classlight has 611 ratings behind it against 56, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 43% of Classlight's written reviews are positive against 85% of VIPKid's.

Classlight ships an update every 3 weeks, VIPKid every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
