# Black Seed vs SpringboneApp

The clearest difference is rating: Black Seed at 4.3 against SpringboneApp's 2.3. Black Seed also leads on ratings volume (304 vs 4). SpringboneApp's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (50% vs 25%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Black Seed holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Black Seed has 304 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Black Seed's written reviews are positive against 50% of SpringboneApp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Black Seed ships an update fortnightly, SpringboneApp every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
