# Metion vs RootKey

The clearest difference is rating: RootKey at 5.0 against Metion's 4.3. RootKey also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 60%) and update cadence (daily vs fortnightly). Metion's advantage is ratings volume (46 vs 1) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metion sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and RootKey sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RootKey holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Metion has 46 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of Metion's written reviews are positive against 100% of RootKey's.

Metion ships an update fortnightly, RootKey daily. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
