# Komodo vs Thrive

The clearest difference is rating: Komodo at 1.8 against Thrive's 1.0. Komodo also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 21) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). Thrive's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thrive sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Komodo asks for nothing beyond the download.

Komodo holds the better App Store score, 1.8 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Komodo has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Komodo's written reviews are positive against 20% of Thrive's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Komodo ships an update every 6 weeks, Thrive weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
