# DeTeXt vs Math Editor

The clearest difference is monetization model: Math Editor at free against DeTeXt's paid. Math Editor also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (16.6 vs 26.0). DeTeXt's advantage is ratings volume (43 vs 4). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for DeTeXt against 5.0 for Math Editor. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DeTeXt has 43 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DeTeXt ships an update every 2 months, Math Editor every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
