# DeTeXt vs MASA

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: DeTeXt at none against MASA's 4. DeTeXt also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.9 vs 4.5). MASA's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.0). On price, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MASA sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. DeTeXt asks for nothing beyond the download.

DeTeXt holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 40 and 18 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of DeTeXt's written reviews are positive against 100% of MASA's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DeTeXt ships an update every 2 months, MASA every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 8, 2026 respectively.
