# Canto DAM vs Hive

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Canto DAM at 100% against Hive's 30%. Canto DAM also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.1) and monetization model (free vs freemium). Hive's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (87 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Canto DAM holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hive has 87 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Canto DAM's written reviews are positive against 30% of Hive's.

Canto DAM ships an update every 4 months, Hive every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
