# Rec Translator vs Documents Translator

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Documents Translator at 54% against Rec Translator's 11%. Documents Translator also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (80 vs 1). Rec Translator's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Rec Translator sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Documents Translator sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Rec Translator holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Documents Translator has 80 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 11% of Rec Translator's written reviews are positive against 54% of Documents Translator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rec Translator ships an update every 2 weeks, Documents Translator every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
