# Special Dates vs Note & Widget

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Note & Widget at none against Special Dates's 3. Note & Widget also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months). Special Dates's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.7) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Special Dates sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Note & Widget asks for nothing beyond the download.

Special Dates holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Special Dates's written reviews are positive against 67% of Note & Widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Special Dates ships an update every 3 months, Note & Widget every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
