# Writing Space vs Campfire

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Campfire at none against Writing Space's 4. Campfire also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Writing Space's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 207) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writing Space sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Campfire asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Writing Space against 4.4 for Campfire. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Writing Space has 1.6K ratings behind it against 207, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of Writing Space's written reviews are positive against 45% of Campfire's.

Writing Space ships an update monthly, Campfire fortnightly. Both last shipped on November 7, 2026.
