# Deereader vs HelloNovel

The clearest difference is update cadence: HelloNovel at weekly against Deereader's every 2 months. HelloNovel also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 27%). Deereader's advantage is ratings volume (626 vs 40). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Deereader sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per 7 days and HelloNovel sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Deereader against 4.8 for HelloNovel. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Deereader has 626 ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 27% of Deereader's written reviews are positive against 50% of HelloNovel's.

Deereader ships an update every 2 months, HelloNovel weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
