# Deereader vs NeoShelf

The clearest difference is ads: NeoShelf at none against Deereader's shown. NeoShelf also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). Deereader's advantage is ratings volume (627 vs 7). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Deereader sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per 7 days and NeoShelf sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NeoShelf holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Deereader has 627 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Deereader ships an update every 2 months, NeoShelf every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
