# MagicWidgets vs Locky

The clearest difference is monetization model: Locky at free with in-app purchases against MagicWidgets's subscription. Locky also leads on review sentiment (55% vs 35%). MagicWidgets's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MagicWidgets sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Locky sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MagicWidgets holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagicWidgets has 7.3K ratings behind it against 497, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of MagicWidgets's written reviews are positive against 55% of Locky's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MagicWidgets ships an update fortnightly, Locky every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
