# Multifactor vs Paper VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Multifactor at 5.0 against Paper VPN's 3.7. Multifactor also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8) and iOS requirement (13 vs 16.0). Paper VPN's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 19%) and ratings volume (124 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paper VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Multifactor asks for nothing beyond the download.

Multifactor holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paper VPN has 124 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Multifactor's written reviews are positive against 40% of Paper VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Multifactor ships an update monthly, Paper VPN every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
