# ESET HOME vs freemail

The clearest difference is monetization model: freemail at free against ESET HOME's freemium. freemail also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.0). ESET HOME's advantage is ratings volume (3.3K vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

freemail holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ESET HOME has 3.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ESET HOME ships an update every 2 months, freemail every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
