# EteSync Notes vs Proton Pass

The clearest difference is rating: Proton Pass at 4.8 against EteSync Notes's 3.0. Proton Pass also leads on ratings volume (8.6K vs 2). EteSync Notes's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and review sentiment (100% vs 67%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Pass sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year. EteSync Notes asks for nothing beyond the download.

Proton Pass holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Pass has 8.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of EteSync Notes's written reviews are positive against 67% of Proton Pass's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

EteSync Notes ships an update weekly, Proton Pass every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
