# Live Text Scanner vs TextKeep

The clearest difference is monetization model: Live Text Scanner at free with in-app purchases against TextKeep's subscription. Live Text Scanner also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 58%) and device support (3 vs 1). TextKeep's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Live Text Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and TextKeep sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TextKeep holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextKeep has 300 ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Live Text Scanner's written reviews are positive against 58% of TextKeep's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Live Text Scanner ships an update every 2 weeks, TextKeep every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
