# Type Run vs Text or Die

The clearest difference is rating: Text or Die at 4.5 against Type Run's 1.5. Text or Die also leads on ratings volume (212K vs 2) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Type Run's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Type Run sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Text or Die sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text or Die holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text or Die has 212K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Type Run ships an update monthly, Text or Die weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
