# Unchain vs Twisted Flip

Unchain and Twisted Flip both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 64% of Twisted Flip's written reviews are positive against 12% of Unchain's. Twisted Flip also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 months). Unchain's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (330 vs 62). On price, rating, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Unchain sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Twisted Flip asks for nothing beyond the download.

Unchain holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Unchain has 330 ratings behind it against 62, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of Unchain's written reviews are positive against 64% of Twisted Flip's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Unchain ships an update every 2 months, Twisted Flip every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
